Read-a-Thon!

Unputdownables is hosting a weekend read-a-thon. From her blog:
~
Are you like me with piles of book (or lists of books) a mile long on your To-Be-Read (TBR) list? Although I do read more than the average Jane, I don’t read as much as I would like to. I keep passing my bookshelf wanting to get some of those books read! So, this weekend I am going to limit the TV and the outings (I’ve been gone for the past week anyway and have a trip to Tahoe coming up very soon… one weekend inside won’t do me any harm), and the random errands and I’m going to READ! I’m rather looking forward to using the next few days to pick a few books off of my shelf to put in my Read-a-Thon pile.

So are you in? Come read with me this weekend!
~
Well okay! I will! I got home late tonight, but I’m gonna do it. I’m not going to try to do anything of TOO epic proportions, but well, I have this stack of library books I have been trying to finish and never getting around to. So HERE WE GO!
Book number one is Terry Pratchett’s Unseen Academicals. Aaaand GO.

  1. Oh Terry Pratchett. He's on my list of authors I need to read! How is it going? I think I may have been missing your Twitter updates! Thanks for stopping by my blog. I'll check back tomorrow to see if you've posted an update! Good luck with the read-a-thon!

Also, where is Lanark Highlands? That just sounds exotic for Ontario! (I also not-so-secretly have an obsessive love for Canada!)

  2. Hah. No, you haven't been missing my twitter updates. I am just bad at remembering to put any up! *blush* I always read and enjoy other peoples' tweets, and neglect my own. FAIL. I'll try harder!
It's going well! I'm really loving this, and I'm indulging in bad book-hopping habits. From football to vampires to faeries and back :D

Lanark Highlands are pretty south, near Ottawa (our capital city). It's a gorgeous forested area, and our main crop is rock. Great crop this year. ;) I love it out here though, rocks or no. I can breath, and there are more stars than I thought possible when I lived in the city.

  3. Really? Rock? When I flew into Ottawa it was so green! Does the landscape change pretty quickly outside the city? I feel bad saying this, but I thought Ottawa was a lot bigger than it looked from the sky. I don't know much about the city other than it's the capital of Canada, and the Senators of course. It looked really pretty from the air though. I would like to visit Ontario someday though!

I'm originally from the desert in New Mexico so our crop is dirt. One of the first times I took my husband home, he looked at me and said, "Wow. There's no vegetation." I said, "Yes there is! Look at those little tufts of grass!...Oh and the tumbleweeds!" LOL!

  4. I secretly love tumbleweeds. I sort of find them ridiculously adorable and lovely. I am so jealous of your tumbleweeds!

Hah. Yeah, Ottawa is a pretty small city, especially when you think that the entire opoulation of Canada can fit into New York City. And I suppose it IS pretty green, for about a centimeter. After you get under there, it's pure rock. Makes planting a garden hard work. But it's still worth the visit!
